Installation Competition Rules

Your design must be sustainable, meaning no foam can be used anywhere in your floral installation.

The competition will start promptly at 9 am EST and end at 3 pm EST.

Your installation will be judged in two portions. 



9 am to 11:30 am: The first portion of the competition will occur from 9 am to 11:30. At 9 am, there will be a random drawing for each contestant’s design space. During this time, you are allowed to load in all of your mechanics and flowers, and then set up your installation mechanics. No flowering is allowed to happen in this portion of the competition.

11:30 am to 1 pm: During this time slot, each team will be interviewed by Holly Chapple. You must be able to explain and show your mechanics and your vision for your installation. If you are not being interviewed during this time, feel free to take your lunch break and get ready for the second portion of the competition.

1 pm to 3 pm: Complete your installation. The competition ends exactly at 3 pm. Your installation must be ready to be judged by 3 pm. 

3 pm to 6 pm: Judges, the public, and virtual Flowerstocks ticket holders will have an opportunity to vote for the winning installation.

6 pm to 8 pm: Breakdown can begin. All breakdown must be taken off the Hope property by the contestants. You will have use Hope's compost pile for fresh products.

Each contestant will have the following:
• Each team can consist of up to 3 members.
• One design space measuring 20 feet x 20 feet square. Your installation must stay within this space.
• Your installation must have a water source.

You will have an opportunity from 9 am to 3 pm to forage on Hope Farm. 

You can only forage the following items (first come first serve):
• Twig, Vine, Branches from fence rows

• Passionflower vine 
• Love in a Puff
• Up to 50 stems from the formal gardens, cutting gardens or dahlia patch. 

(You may not cut from shrubbery or landscaping) 


You must NOT exceed a floral buy budget of $1000 USD
